Are online singing lessons worked? What kind of differences there are between Skype lessons and on site lessons?
Hi Guys, today I’m gonna talk about Online singing lessons and their benefits for the student. Nowadays is easier to be in contact with the people we love even though we live abroad (and I can talk by myself as an Italian who live in Wales).
In this environment also the teaching evolved from how it was 20 years ago and now is easier for people who want to do a specific course doing it online ( if you think that now there are also online universities)
Why do I want to choose online singing lesson over the on site lessons?
There many advantages on having online singing lessons.
For example they are perfect if you can’t attend lessons in person during the day and you can’t reach the studio so you can have the lesson comfortably at home.If you also live far away from the big cities and you can’t reach easily the studio you can have the same results with online singing lessons.
The service will be exactly the same as the on site lessons but with the comfort of being home.
Online singing lessons is also recommend for the professional singer who want to be followed by a specific tutor during his/her tour because they won’t be able to attend the lesson on site.
What kind of equipment do I need?
The equipment you need for online singing lessons are just few:
- Good and stable internet connection
- A web camera (in built camera from laptop is fine or if you want an external webcam)
- A microphone (that in the majority of the cases in built with the pc or the webcam)
- Communication software (I personally use Skype but there are many others)
- Another device to reproduce a backing track you want to sing (if you use the pc itself there’s gonna be feedback problem and the mic can’t recognise both your voice and the backing track from the pc).
As any other lesson I do , even the Skype lessons are recorded and released to the student.
I can learn ,as well , even just seeing a Youtube videos for free, why will I have to pay for online singing lessons?
That’s a good question. As I already introduce on this blog , Youtube is now full of people who talked about vocal technique.
This is not per se a bad thing, on the contrary is a good way to remain updated and improve your informations.
The problem is when a singer who is just started being interested in vocal technique ( a beginner or sometimes a professional singer) choose to follow youtube video by itself and replicate the exercises at home without nobody on the other side telling him if he’s doing right or wrong.
I know many singers who ruined their voices because they practiced by themself without a tutor.
If you type , for example, “mix technique” you can find many information and many tutor who can give you exercises and advice regarding the MIX, but I think it will be better if you will do that exercises just after a while , after you discover more about your voice and how to manage your voice better and also after the knowledge about your instrument is increase so you can elaborate that informations with a better awareness and without ruin your voice.
On online singing lessons the tutor will customise the exercises on your needing .
You will also have a professional teacher who is available for any kind of information you need and who can customise your learning process and exercises so you can improve as fast as you can.
Nowadays online singing lessons is the new frontiers of teaching and learning !!!
As I always said “Every student is unique, every voice is unique”.
